Pankaj Kumar Jha
Pankaj Kumar Jha is a dedicated Madhubani painter from Satghara Simri (Navtole) village in the cultural heartland of Mithila (Madhubani district, Bihar). Initiated into the art by his mother, Pankaj has continued the age-old tradition of crafting Madhubani art on auspicious occasions, and often on mud walls, using natural pigments and hand tools like twigs and matchsticks. His paintings weave vibrant narratives from the Ramayana, Radha and Krishna tales, and Bihar’s ritualistic festivals. Pankaj’s work is a vital link in the living heritage of Mithila’s folk culture, offering contemporary audiences a tactile legacy of devotion, myth, and artistic resilience.
